with assistance

from a pro

three Different levels of assistance

based on your preference and experience

1-on-1 instruction

$45 / hour

  • You will get uninterrupted attention from a professional mechanic-educator. They will provide individualized instruction to help you thoroughly diagnose your bike and implement an appropriate solution to meet your needs.

  • You can choose whether you want to have the tools in your own hands accompanied by verbal instructions from the pro, or work alongside the pro while they work on a different part of the bike to get the job done faster. Or a combination of both!

  • If you are new to bike maintenance and want to get your bike fixed more quickly, this is the option for you.

Small group

Instruction

$30 / hour

  • You will have an opportunity to work independently after the pro mechanic has helped you decide on a task and given a brief tutorial.

  • The pro mechanic-educator will be rotating between members to ensure everyone gets the information they need to keep moving forward

  • No more than three bikes per pro mechanic-educator

  • If you are comfortable working independently for approximately 67% percent of the time, this is the right option for you.

Independent DIY

$15 / hour

  • You must attend at least one 1-hour session of 1-on-1 instruction OR small group instruction before you can participate in independent DIY Open Shop

  • This style of Open Shop is best if you are moderately confident that you know what needs to be fixed and how to do it.

  • There will still be a pro mechanic-educator in the room to maintain a safe environment and ensure everyone is abiding by the Open Shop Terms of Use Agreement.

  • The pro mechanic-educator can be available to answer occasional questions for about your bike repair, but please don’t expect individual attention for more than 5 minutes out of the hour.

  • No more than 6 bikes per pro mechanic-educator.
